Clickbank What Is Gravity?

If you’re an affiliate marketer, then you have most likely signed up with Clickbank. They have more than fifty thousand digital products to promote and over a hundred thousand active affiliate marketers.

When deciding what product that you want to promote you will need to choose a niche. It’s best if you choose a niche that you know something about or at least find interesting. This will give you the best chance at succeeding. Once you’ve found your niche, it’s time to search for it in Clickbank’s marketplace.

The search results will include the following:

Ave $ / sale: the average net amount earned by an affiliate.

Ave % / sale: the average percentage earned on each sale made by an affiliate.

Ave % / rebill: the average percentage earned on a products that has
recurring billing, sold by affiliates.

Grav: This stands for gravity. It is a weighted score that reflects how popular a product is.

Put simply, gravity is a score that Clickbank assigns to each product, representing how many sales have been made and how recently that those sales have occurred. So the gravity is an important measure of the success of  a product.

An expanded definition of gravity is the number of affiliates who’ve earned a commission by sending a paying customer to a particular  product over the past 12 weeks. This is a weighted sum and not the actual total. Recent transactions are given a greater value.

Clearly, we want to promote products that are in demand and the gravity will give us an indication of how popular each product is. In general, a low gravity score suggests there are not a lot of affiliates promoting the product. A high gravity suggests that there is a competitive market for the product, with quite a few affiliates promoting it.

I only like to promote products that have a medium/high gravity score. This is because the higher score indicates the product is in demand and that people are buying it. Chances are, higher gravity products are receiving a lot of attention online as well. They are the subject of reviews and forum discussions, which is are great forms of free advertising. This increases the possibility of selling the product.

The catch with trying to sell high gravity products, is that there will be a lot of competition from other affiliate marketers trying to sell the same product. This means that you will have to market it very aggressively. Therefore, I prefer to choose products with a medium to high gravity of about 75-150. This means that it is a good product that is selling well, but the market is not over saturated with competition.

Once you have found a few products that you really like, (based on gravity and category) you can then narrow it down by looking at other statistics, such as the average $ / sale and average % / sale.

Now you can be more confident that you have chosen a solid Clickbank product for your affiliate marketing campaign.
